  • Kit Stability: The collection kit has the cord blood collection bag, cord tissue container, 5 vials for maternal blood draw, vacuum-insulated panels, phase-changing gel packs, temperature indicator, parent and healthcare provider instructions. Cryo-Cell states that its collection kit is designed to maintain room temperature for up to 30 times longer than other cord blood banking kits.
  • Transport Logistics: A medical courier service transports the collected unit to the lab.

Stem Cell Processing Technology

Cryo-Cell offers two primary processing methods:

  • Standard Method: Hetastarch (HES) is used for the standard processing method.
  • Premium Method: PrepaCyte-CB, a premium processing method, is offered as an upgrade. Cryo-Cell cites multiple independent studies showing that PrepaCyte-CB reduces up to 99% of red blood cells and yields the highest CFU/CD34+ compared to other processing methods.

Storage Bag

Cryo-Cell uses a five-chamber bag to store the cryopreserved stem cells. The five separate segments allow for multiple, fractional uses of the cord blood without thawing the full unit, which may be beneficial for future regenerative medicine treatments or clinical trials.
